DXC HR contact

What's the best way to contact HR, I have a fairly unusual accommodation request (need to tend my dog as she's will be having a major surgery) and how do I go about contacting DXC HR about this?

Suggestions?

Better to say nothing about the dog but rather say that a spouse / partner / immediate relative is having major surgery and use Carers' leave to cover for the time. Well a pet is a close relative!

Through a spirit medium using a ouija board.

Just say you are working from home. Keep your phone with you and if called just say your laptop just crashed, as that's a common thing in DXC.

DXC treat everyone worse than a dog, so Don't eXpect Compassion (DXC) for your dog.

Once doc recognise pets as equivalent to humans then they will employ more hamsters to run the service desk and more snakes on the exec board

Well, start with your supervisor. Is your job such that you can work remotely? If your boss is okay with you working remotely I don't see any need to make some formal accommodation. Unfortunately, caring for a sick pet is not covered under any sick or family leave provisions.

Tell them you have a transpecies relationship with your dog and if they refuse your request then you can sue them for discrimination. Simple! It is 2018 after-all!

Tell nobody but take a sickey. Migrane headaches usually resolve themselves after several days away from Club Toxic (aka DXC).

Ask Mikey to talk to his typist GF, but don't hold your breath waiting for a response.

HR doesn't care about you, let alone your dog. They might just relieve you of your duties citing insanity if you go with such a request

Where are you located. If in the US DXC does not grant anyone time off, and days off are called vacation or sick time. Vacation is at the discretion of your manager. When people take leave for parents, children or themselves being sick for more than 3 days it is still not granted. You have to apply for FMLA which is online. It doesnt currently cover pets and has gone to courts. You can read up on your FMLA rights online without talking to anyone. I agree with the poster's who said the only benefit of talking to HR is to bubble to top of WRF.

Assuming DXC even recognise 'Pawternity leave' (the term used by companies who recognise the emotional effect a pet has on an employee akin to a family member) as that might suggest the company has a heart and compassion. At best 'at the discretion of your manager' might be the only answer they woujld give for either time off or a mix of leave and working from home,

As an ex-DXC'r and thus external to the intranet, all I can find is HRConnect:

If you contact HR for assistance.. you will go top of redundancy list as being a nuisance.

Also..why not ask your line manager?

I'd say try to phone the Czech Republic, or Poland, maybe Moscow now? I could never get hold of HR when I worked there. They left our building 10 years ago. All mobile now.
