The liquidation partners who wound down TRU and the ones bidding on Sears are the same people. They're not household names, but they're the 800 lbs gorillas of liquidation

I think OP meant 'liquidators helped kill a beloved store'. But they don't kill anything, they just help bury the corpse once it's already committed s---c-de.

Why would the liquidators look bad? They took advantage of a situation and cashed in- not a single thing underhanded in that. It's good honest business. A business cannot sell something, so it sells off what they can't sell, the liquidator buys the merchandise that is not moving, and has a tried and true method for moving said merchandise. I am not sure what you are identifying as a problem.
