Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

I Remember

Twas not so long ago that this company was great. World class innovation, leadership with vision and morale fiber. Always in the top company listed to work for, great benefits. Etc. Then something happened, bad executive leadership took hold. Poor technical decissions were made, an incompetent SVP was promoted to run engineering, and here we sit all screwed up.

All those "Best place to work" type things are very broad brush.

Everything is about how your department is run and the co-workers around you.

A company not on the list could be great for you, one at the top can still s--- for you.

Companies must pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to Fortune to even be included in the survey AND it takes a ton of work by many to support( though most are useless HR people no less). Long story short, company needed to cut expenses AND the 10th floor knew we would drop way down the list so they opted not to put their name in the hat. It had absolutely nothing to do with being an international company......

The company name should have changed when Irwin left. The name Qualcomm reflects a time gone by. Today's Qualcomm is led by losers on the shirt tales of greatness. When they changed the Qualcomm logo and signs they should have changed the name, maybe to Broadcom.

Where did the 1 and 0 go in the Q. SM didn't even know the Q represented a digital 1 and 0 until it was gone and employees told him. What a bunch of idi0t we have for executive leadership.

Yes Kevork is a complete ahole but what about the guy who promoted him. JT is the real reason engineering is messed up.

Things have been going south since at least 2005.The phenomal growth of smartphones just masked all the muck. Now that the tide is low top leadership is caught swimming n*

My lost faith turned into disgust when SMollie celebrated the 30th anniversary of the company by handing out free cupcakes. Yoo-hoo! Party on! Thanks for the display of appreciation for the employees’ hard work.

Yep. Kevork really effed up QCT.

Oh well.....

I believe the term "can't fix stupid" is appropriate for this predicament.

The EXACT moment I knew they had turned the corner was when, for the first time in years, they were not listed as one of the top companies to work for (I believe it was the Fortune list). But that alone wasn’t the exact moment. It was when the executive team issued an internal message to employees stating that THEY decided not to participate in the “best companies” rating process to make it on the list because they felt Qualcomm was “global” and the list was US only. Everyone knew this was total horsesh!t to save face because they had slipped off the list. Obviously many companies on the list are global. To me and my team, this felt like a deliberate and poorly executed lie - and further, it made me believe that those arrogant stuffed shirts sitting on the 10th floor truly think the underlings are so dumb that we would accept this obvious lie. To me, this was unforgivable, and that was the exact moment I lost trust and faith in Qualcomm.
