Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Happy Holidays from the Waltons!

I hope you all enjoy missing your family and friends during every major holiday! It's very generous of Walmart to pay all employees at their normal pay on all major holidays like Thanksgiving and New Years! We as Walmart employees need to start questioning whether this c-appy job is really worth it? Every other company is hiring, and every single one will show more appreciation for these sacrifices. Working New Years for 11 bucks an hour, you gotta be kidding me! I for one am DONE with this company!

There is no 25% off for working thanksgiving at the DC. Also my PTO time is maxed out at the end of the year whether I work the holidays or not, therefore I got absolutely nothing but my normal pay working Thanksgiving and New Years. Pretty sh--ty! How many company's force all their employees in on Thanksgiving and then pay normal pay? Walmart should be ashamed of themselves!

You get holiday pay, its on your pto accurment. Didn't like your extra 25% off shopping trip for working on thanksgiving?

Seriously? You don't get holiday pay for working Thanksgiving?? That is pretty horrible, sure glad I don't work there. That would sure be good enough reason to not work there!

The 401k arent invested in Walmart stock, that's not how it works although they may partially be invested in Walmart. I agree 100% that Walmart stock is a POOR investment though, especially the way they are running this company into the ground. Always screwing their best and long term associates till they quit will come back to bite them.

To 'Almost 100 K in my 401 K'----you better roll that over into something else quick. I don't trust anything about WM in general or their stock values in particular.

Pretty sad to miss Thanksgiving with the family for 11 bucks an hour. It's pathetic that a company as profitable as Walmart doesn't pay at least double time for the major holidays. My family will NOT be supporting this, we are done shopping in their stores!

Been with the company 16 years. I’ve had my good times and bad times. There are days I want to walk out and quit. However, what is that going to solve. Not a single thing except to show I am a quitter. I have almost 100k in my 401K. I use my PTO time wisely. I cash out my stock twice a year. Once for vacation, and once for Christmas. Stop crying about everything. Work hard. Be smart at how you use your benefits. What do you want? Management to stand by the door and say thank you every day when you leave? Do you not think they are getting sh-- on as well from the market level and regional level? It’s not all the stores fault. I can promise you that. When I started I made $6 an hour. Now people are making almost twice that when they start. Did I get a raise based on the base pay going up? Yeah, a few cents. Did I b--ch about it? No. Just worked harder for my eval raise. Was I upset when they took away Holiday pay and vacation time? Yes. I had worked my way up to 4 weeks of vacation. But, I like the PTO time much better even though I didn’t think I would. I now get more vacation time a year because again, I use it wisely. Everyone is looking for a handout and an easy job. Work for it. That’s what this country was built on.

You’re not going to shop somewhere else. It’s one of the few places you can afford that has everything a person needs.

That may be true but we sure as hell can stop shopping in their stores until they learn to show some appreciation for our sacrifices!

You will never get a union in at Walmart. Stop complaining and be glad you have a job. You work at Walmart because you have no choice and corporate knows it. So they’re never going to pay you more.

All their stupid PR stunts only go so far. All the loved ones missing at the table for every holiday tells most all the need to know about Walmart. It's one thing if they paid accordingly but 11 bucks an hour on Thanksgiving is a slap in the face to all these families!

"Where are these jobs?" Do you understand what literally everywhere means? Do you ever go out in public? All the places with "now hiring" signs would be a good place to start. Maybe you need someone to look for you? If so you can contact the local temp service who will give you at least a dozen options that pay better even after they take their cut. Good luck there! 👍

If you can't find a job that pays better than Walmart you aren't looking very hard...

Where are these jobs that are “literally everywhere?” My husband and I are alraady working full and part time jobs. There are plenty of jobs but they dont pay anything.

Every company we’ve looked at has the same attitude towards their payroll. Reduce $ and increase workload over and over. I make less than I did 10 years ago doing the same job because of restructuring. Its not illegal, so what’s stopping them? Even my bank is doing it.

The solution is not unions, it is for people to wise up and quit. Not sure why anyone would work for this company when there are better jobs literally everywhere right now..

Awesome. Let’s continue to b--ch when a union could take care of all these issues. Why don’t u go use the “open door” about wanting holiday pay and see how that goes. Union would get u your money

Sure was a great New Years, working till 1am and didn't make a damn dime more than any other day. Not so much as a thank you. What a pathetic greedy company! You'd think they'd realize what a retention and PR problem this creates for the company. Bunch of incompetent clowns running this company into the ground! I refuse to be screwed and abused by the Waltons any longer, I'm done!

Just put my 2 weeks in, I've had enough! With small children at home it just isn't worth missing holidays with them, especially when we only get our normal pay for holidays. There is no reason this company can't show some appreciation and pay double time on major holidays, most are only making 11 bucks an hour anyway.
