Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Observation TD

Does anyone know why a disproportionate fraction of positions of power within TD (all the way upto PB) are with Rensselaer alumni. One can argue hiring/networking/semiconductor research program is strong for that university but really is that all that's going on??? Are there really no good candidates from other universities?? Perhaps there is some good reason for this?

It may be yet another issue with focal. The focal tool rewards people who are at the lower quartile of base pay to bring them up. As a result of this, Grads of low ranking universities like Rensselaer may get disproportionate raises (and promos as well?) since they get hired at the low end of base pay distribution compared to those from top schools like Stanford, Berkeley, etc.

Is it because more RCGs had been hired from Rensselaer in the past for whatever reason?
