Thread regarding Sears layoffs

To breath another day.

I'm not a shill, and I'm not Lampert. I'm an entrepreneur who enjoys creating. I've been operating since the early 80s.

1) dust settles with 400ish shell footprints.

2)but 600ish SHOS stores remain as well. Kudos to Lampert'$ team for moving that piece off the bankruptcy table. Brilliant.

3)locally the I5 corridor of the NW represents huge opportunity for SHOS to pickup more footprints in massive populated suburbs. Whereas SHOS could only open in rural areas. Those larger areas could open as ROEBUCKS Home and estate. A name taken out of play years ago but a name people 40 and older recognize.

4)the service department. Put Sears well so be it. BUT if the premise is a move forward and upward and rebirth then I believe these ideas are solid and carry some merit. And in that case good luck to those who want to stay and fight. And create.

In the words of WSU's walk on quarterback Gardner Minshew creating a Cinderella story of a history breaking 11 n 2 season and the winning of yesterday's Alamo bowl, " haven't lost a party". Let's be that guy. The guy nobody wanted as starting quarterback and work together to bring this thing around.

Good luck to all regardless of the outcome.

Skin in the game.

@1fxe "I'll never forget the time I ordered a large pair of pruning shears from Sears and having it delivered in a box for a Craftsman push mower FULL of packing peanuts from a Sears store five states away."

You're lucky the store even had that many packing peanuts. Your shipment may have used up their whole month's supply, lol.

It isn’t just a shell. It’s an established retailer with top fast fashion brands like Covington, Roebuck & Co, and Jacklyn Smith. It has America’s favorite appliance brand, Kenmore. And when America goes to get stuff done, Craftsman and Die Hard are there.

Not fake “put a label on Stanley tools” Craftsman, but the real deal, which you can only get from Sears.

Haters like to deny this, but I doubt they know much about getting anything productive done. They probably think Harbor Freight is top quality!

I bought some cheap shirts online from Kmart. I live in Illinois and they came in 3 packages, South Dakota, New York and Key Largo or Key West. That one made me laugh cause I had no idea they had a store in the Keys. I've also gotten things from other far from me places that didn't seem worth the effort for them. No problems with delivery or defective items though. I took advantage of all the Free Cash and Shipping and Cash Back. I played by the rules and only bought stuff for my personal use. If your willing to sell it cheap, I don't feel bad about buying it. I became a Platinum SYWR member just before they filed for bankruptcy lol. S---s what ESL has done to the place.

@1gfi You're right. Some transformation this is! I don't think Sears Holdings has ever built/opened a single store since its inception in 2005.

At this point, I'm not sure why they are even putting effort into the stores. The store count has shrunk dramatically and the company is still in trouble.

As far as online is concerned, Sears and Kmart can't compete with the big boys and never will. I can attest to that personally, I tried shopping at both Sears and Kmart and gave up out of frustration. Almost everything I tried to order was unavailable or "pickup only" (at a Kmart store 300 miles away). Shopped Amazon, Walmart and a little bit of JCPenney and my experience of shopping all three was so much smoother. I've even had better experiences on eBay by buying items from "one-man show" sellers shipping stuff out of their home than from Sears or Kmart. I'll never forget the time I ordered a large pair of pruning shears from Sears and having it delivered in a box for a Craftsman push mower FULL of packing peanuts from a Sears store five states away.

You are right about the Pacific Northwest. SHC has largely abandoned the region with a few scattered Kmart and sears stores in random areas. With the closing of the Medford, Oregon sears there will be no sears FLS in the state of Oregon. In fact SHC will have one Kmart in Oregon and that’s it (the dalles). Just 6 months ago we had several of both formats within driving distance of my home. Now I have zero within 100 miles. Now that’s a transformation.

The last two or three comments are too ignorant to answer back. Go put your stetson cologne on and hit the arcade.

The hostility here is directed primarily at Sears corporate and Eddie....not the front line workers.

Making outlandish statements saying hostility is focused on Sears and K Mart workers in general is simply trying to stir the pot to try to deflect focus away from where the blame for this mess actually belongs...squarely with Eddie Lampert.

The title was breathe new life... Hence the correction *breathe not breath. Quite simple. The penning is goofy as the board, not me chopped my correspondence up. You don't have to be petulant about it.

Don’t bother using logic here OP! Most of the posters here just want to trash hard working Sears and Kmart people.

SHOS is losing money (2.49) a share and raised "Going Concern" doubts a few weeks ago in an SEC filing. The loss of Sears would probably kill it.

They have secured SOME vendor contracts. But, the CEO has had plenty of time to get his ducks in a row and he has not procurred all vendors and some vendors have not been able to work with SHOS, for whatever reason. SHOS still relies on SHC for over 75% of product. SHOS is still attached at the hip with SHC, regardless of what anyone says.

*Breathe.

SHOS uses the purchasing power of holdings. And has it's own agreements with venders. Pays (I believe) for the use of innovels logistics. SHOS and holdings share the trucks at times. SHOS does deliveries for holdings. And that SHOS delivery team provides a more local small town panache as final to the customer.

I presume they've secured alternate suppliers by now by the fact that they aren't also in bankruptcy.

SHOS is a different company full of franchisees and not bankrupt. They're certainly drawn into the sh--storm, but they aren't employees and they've got their own board.
