Thread regarding Anthem Inc. layoffs

Anthem destroys what it touches

When Anthem was wellpoint and they bought the Va Beach Medicaid/Medicaid firm, they did so because that company had many years of consistent profitability and beat the snot out of Anthem/WellPoint at every turn in that market, Then Anthem systematically started destroying that acquisition, and sending IT jobs off shore. Then they started manipulating, at every turn, the Medicaid protective rules about offshoring, THEN they started pushing all of IT into one of four (4) locations, in an effort to "consolidate", even though there is a mounting body of evidence that shows at least IT workers (who are high / specialized knowledge workers) can be just as effective as in house IT. Personally, I quit at that point - ethically, just could not be associated with the firm...

I used to work for Anthem until I got laid off as a New Years gift in 2016.

I thank God every day that I am no longer there, they are a miserable company to work for and incompetently run. Most of their managers are incompetent, although well paid and probably got their positions through favoritism, since I only had one or two good ones while I was there.

There is constant turnover and reorganizations - I had over 10 managers in 5 years and most barely understood what I did.

The company is too cheap to even give their employees the type of training they need to succeed at their jobs - its all cobbled together in house by people who don't know their subject matter.

Now I hear that there is another huge round of layoffs, probably because they are seeking cheaper labor through outsourcing, I feel sorry for those who are still there - the morale must be terrible and employees must live in constant fear.

For those seeking a job there - if you have any other options, my advice is DON"T GO THERE!!!!!
