Thread regarding Seagate Technology Inc. layoffs

Strategy?

There is NO such thing as IT 4.0

Stock is trading below when new CEO was announced over a year ago

Success is not chasing WDC to the bottom of valuation

And folks are surprised that layoffs will continue on this terminal asset. Go figure.

What was in the Ravi strategy email? Any details? Is he doing product strategy?

Obviously, we can't blame ravi, his best strength is cost cutting.

He had done it many times and will do it again for sure

If you were to look for someone to blame then it's the person who hire him

This is the end

Totally in agreement with @WI5JkQV-1dhr. Can see yet another grave mistake by the CEO (DM) in the making. More sites going to close down like what the CIO did to OKC and more layoffs of people that don’t agree with him like what he did in IT. Don’t see any light at the end of the tunnel with this one.

OMG. I saw that email and thought this is the key turning point event of doom for Seagate. I really did as I'm sure many of you did. IT is now going to determine our whole corporate product strategy, eh? Not product nor business development professionals?! WTF!?!!!! I thought to myself we are really screwed. What kind of company (name any other) turns over business strategy and product development to the CIO?! This screams of sheer desperation and total clueless leadership.

So that POS Ravi is now heading corporate strategy. Everyone be prepared for IT style layoffs in other areas in the coming months with this new development.

When IT runs corporate development it is really over. The IT 4.0 nonsense makes sense now with Ravi in charge. Or they are going to get rid of some other SVPs and consolidate non ops and non product funtctons with CIO.

Ravi the guy who had no ethics at SanDisk or seagate is now in charge of mergers and accusations. We are f---ed royally. Please someone post an email on here of Ravi being racist or stealing more than our souls. Make the board see the light.

To add to 5G for the non believers. The range is so short and we would need a 5G tower on every block - just think how long that would take and it will not make sense except for very dense areas. Roll out will be much slower than they have you believe until the next leap in 5G distance. We are still 10 years away and no one will be spinning disks at that point.

IT 4.0 and IOT are buzzwords. They are not really going to come into fruition until the launch of 5G networking world wide. Unfortunately, we will have our brains continuously microwaved into mush by 5G radiation, so the need for machine intelligence will become a reinforcing loop. As far as Seagate products, there's no intelligence there beyond hard coded algorithms installed in the software that try to predict future use from past use. It's not really intelligence, it's a hard coded math equation that can't change itself. There is no machine learning products to speak of that actually reprogram themselves. Show me a single one. Hoax and marketing gimmick.
