But what if the whole Oracle existence has been just well executed and expensive longitudinal medical experiment? Stanford prison experiment would pale in comparison.

What's happening at the Santa Clara campus? Simple, what's left of Sun is limping along until all the service contracts expire in the early 2030's. Until then it will be a steady workforce decline as attrition and retirements continue to reduce the headcount without any back filling. I don't even think layoffs will be needed, though at some point it could become challenging to keep things running as there will be few left to keep the lights on.

Before it was a Sun campus, it was indeed a legit insane asylum. Things don’t change much, back to the way it was before.
