Yes... its terrible how long time transition employees are getting 200% salary over the next calendar year between the retention bonus and severance. 🙄

So I'm not a Stay - but talking with others this sounds like a raw deal - RSUs you're likely to never see, no raise(!), and some unspecified cash bonus that may very well only partially materialize (since 50% is dependent on how the former CA division does?).

Why would anyone technical, outside of mainframe, stick around for that? The fact that term employees are making more $$$ per paycheck than stay-ers is the icing on the cake. Guess that makes the 5 day paycheck coming up the cherry on top - good luck to anyone who has to pay rent the 31st and gets the check to pay it 10 days later.

If you are in mainframe, above average engineer, and well liked by your management... Then you should stay, upside is lot more than risk. Else join Walmart

That means, If you get to stay late longer time in Broadcom, you will eventually earn more than Walmart.

Plus if stock price appreciates, earnings will be far more and vice versa.

I have an offer in hand. My current salary at Broadcom is 18 lacs INR. I'm getting 28 at Walmart plus a promotion.However I got stocks worth 60lacs from Broadcom.

Whats your opinion guys. Would it be wise to quit?

@WCFAOHM-pig “everyone is extremely disappointed” Not sure who you spoke to but as someone that is on ground level working directly with customer’s these grant are huge compare to the sc-aps the workers got from CA. CA gave these types of grants to UPPER MANAGEMENT/Executives while the worker got leftovers the most I cashed out in one year was 6k. Hawk is pretty direct if you product drops below doom line you are risk of getting sold off or worse cut.

Has anyone else read the FAQ sent with these letters? The RSU is in the form of 4 grants that start to vest on 4 consecutive years and fully funded the following 4. Meaning you need to survive until 2026 to see the last 25% of your final RSU grant. The grants stack like a pyramid over time. Throw this on Excel and it makes more sense. You won’t see all the full amount in 4 years. May be some confusion out there.

Hope this helps:

Example 400 Total RSU

Grant 1: 100 RSU

*March 2020 (25) 2021 (25) 2022 (25) 2023 (25)

Grant 2: 100 Total

*March 2021 (25) 2022 (25) 2023 (25) 2024 (25)

Grants 3: 100 Total

*March 2022 (25) 2023 (25) 2024 (25) 2025 (25)

@WCFAOHM-1gqv CA was the same way under Charles. The last 10 years were ruled by HR and Legal, and it was about caring, diversity and respecting LGBTQ. Not about producing. Not about good code.

Guys, look up salaries for doctors. You are making doctor's salary, or at least low end doctors. They have to go to medical school, pay that tuition, do residency, crazy hours, saving lives and not get full paid until 30. Let's just, at least, just a little bit, be thankful for the opportunity.

Ans: That's BRCM / Hock compensation philosophy, excellent variable compensation to all. No cherry picking for "selected few" or just the management. That's why you will not find too many people at BRCM whining.

Welcome package should be for all employee who are STAY - that's how it has been, not sure if there is anything unique about CA acq.

For those saying it's click bait - I thought the same 5 years ago. Thinking stock is already up so much (Run up from $38 to $72 in 7/8 months) - so the options Hock is giving is just a joke (bait!) and I will never make any money. Now those options are worth ~ 185/ share.

You may or may not survive, who knows, but isn't it wonderful to negotiate next job with a boatload of equity in hand, than not - think about it - most emotional people won't. All this anxiety and hatred for BRCM will go away, eventually, once you realize they are more open and honest than any other company. It's their brutal honestly, which makes it uneasy for people, because most folks have been used to lies and "nice" management. I heard people were ticked off when their beer kegs were taken away and they want to quit. Would you rather have an extra 20/30/40/ 50K in your pocket for your family or you want to have free beer ? All this emotionalism will die once you start realizing that you are in the office to make money for you and your family and BRCM take really good care of you from $$ perspective. No free beers, no fun trips for sales to waste money, you WILL feel as if you are working for a cheap company, look at cheap gmail, IT tools :) - but that only means more money in your pocket. Most people at BRCM are OK with this. But if you are here for superficial perks (which may add to few hundred bucks) and feel good management lies, then BRCM is not the company for you. Good Bless!!

What are the chances people will get chance to vest these stock if they work on ES? I am not much hopeful. Most of ES will be diversified with in an year. This is just to retain employees for selling business.

Opinion here - in our group, it seems like RSUs helped even out a massive base pay disparity between colleagues on the same level and doing the exact same work. It’s not a secret, we all talked about what we make. Even if this doesn’t kick in until 2020, it was a better attempt at leveling out than CA. We didn’t have to get anything and could have gotten the boot. Happy for my coworkers!

India grants are about 70-75% of US, which is a joke, as it's so much cheap in India. Someone told me that Indian BRCM employees cried in front of Hock and he cut them this deal. It is what it is. CA employees in India who are STAY will now never leave, unless they are kicked out, there is so much RSU for them, even google wouldn't offer them this much money

@WCFAOHM-1ulg Sorry you are not principle level, if your bonus is 20%. That's level 4/ staff level bonus and your RSU matches perfectly to a level 4. So in Broadcom you are level 4, in CA you were level 5. I presume your bonus in CA was less than 20%. Here in Broadcom employees have received more than decent bonus, because of multiplier effect and the fact that Broadcom has been on a roll, when it comes to revenue.

Nonetheless it's still pretty decent!

These are the same people who were worried as hell if they will have a job, cursing Sa Tan and assuming that no one will survive. Now the same crowd is disappointed that they are not offered enough "incremental" money. Please get off of your high horses and check your worth in market.... Let me remind you. In your face... You worked for CA technologies, on... Older technologies.
