Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Sign of SYWR shutting down

Bought a couple of Xmas gifts at Kmart. The clerk did not ask me if I was a member or if I wanted to sign up. Also there was no mile long receipt with all of the great offers to come back again. As I drove to panda express for lunch, I realized that I may not come back again. I wish that Target would buy the SYW program. Over there you can use any washroom that you want.

They print out one coupon saying how many total points they have to spend if it's atleast over 10 or something then if they're not signed up you get one coupon for 5 off 5 if you're a member

I think clothing is the only thing not listed FWIW

jU-3tvs May be. But I've seen exclusions like that before and wondered.

From the multiple typos in that unusually excessive list of exclusions, I think 2tpu made the whole thing up.

I just went to Sears yesterday and they asked if I was a SYW member, I handed him my card. He took my points off at the end, I paid. Nothing out of the norm. I keep getting offers by text daily.

SYWR is the worst program to ever bring into a business. It not only rewards frequent shoppers but it also rewards member that shop once a year if that. I have worked at Kmart for a few years and we have members that know the offers through and through and only come in if their whole purchase will be free. When they can’t use their coupons or points because of an exclusion, is peons whom make minimum wage have to allow the members to talk to us like we are a human just doing our job. Management in the store will stand behind you but our district manager is the worst most unprofessional disrespectful spic on the planet. He expects the SM to attend 15 conference calls a week staff a 10mil dollar store on 6500 a week and don’t upset your members🤣🤣one negative member feedback and you will be reporting to my boss is what we hear often. We don’t have enough staff to staff anywhere in our store and he blames our HR manager when in fact it has nothing to do with that it is simply no one in their right mind wants to be someone’s b--ch for minimum wage when they can go right across the street and be a door greeter for $10 an hour, but we just gave 19 seniors 8.4million dollars what is wrong with this company? Give up and let your unappreciated hard working associates go find a better paying job!

Coupons and freecash stopped for frequent shoppers months ago. New accounts got coupons and freecash until a couple of weeks ago. Now it is all dry for everybody. Hard to keep getting free stuff now, but there is little left to buy anyway. Most knowledgeable members are giving up and moving on with their lives.

Must be the WOW experience - yesiree I would certainly want coupons and MORE IMPORTANTLY "STATUS" for purchasing alot of cheap junk

With that "status" I could be the neighborhood kingpin

Pinhead - you went negative with this.

"WRONG. If you don't know what you're talking about... Don't SPEAK or in this case POST"

I saw it every day I went in to work. Tell someone else they don't know what they are talking about. I saw $65 appliance coupons come out for shoppers that just bought appliance, and those that didn't (they would always small talk, one way or the other)

I was a Sears employee, you are a Kmart shopper.

Go find more bluelight specials/coupons on candy and toilet paper.

@igp I know exactly what I'm talking about, a-hole. I and other people I know who frequently used points to get cheap stuff have not received coupons printing at the register since this past summer. Even when one of them bought a large appliance, spending hundreds of dollars of real money, no coupons printed. Coupons continued printing for the more-common casual customers, who on average have only been in a Sears something like twice a year, until much more recently.

My point is that a points system that rewards frequent shoppers and gives them status is a GOOD idea. And my point is the SYW was WAY too complex on the IMPLEMENTATION side.

And no, I am not HIGH.

"WRONG. If you don't know what you're talking about... Don't SPEAK or in this case POST."

---really---

Pinhead. I worked Sears until Nov 21. read my post? They didn't stop until Nov7th ish. Then

abruptly shut off, probably in lieu of upcoming thanksgiving etc. Not for sure.

I was pulling off qty 4 coupons/SYW rewards posts all the way into November, NOT 5 months

ago.

Be more specific on the Kmart comment. Maybe they were different than Sears.

I was happy when the paper didn't come rolling out, as usually...at least for my final 2 weeks.

I got lots of goodies from SYW, all free or almost free. I could not believe some of the rewards I got even though I was not a frequent shopper, like $ 10 off of $ 10 a few times. some times though, a reward would not work because of exceptions - the problem was that the exceptions were not clear. This resulted in checkout lines being held up (sometimes due to me), and frustrated customers (including me sometimes). Once I had a freebie coming and did not know what to use it on, so I bought some envelopes and other stationery. It did not work, and the lady at checkout tried to convince me that my purchase would not work because it was part of pharmacy ! After a long time of holding up the line and getting nowhere, I just left my purchase and walked out.

"SYW is a good idea It needs to be tweeked on the implementation side."

ARE YOU HIGH????? It was NEVER a good idea. Far too complex. It required the customer to think, and calculate, to track dates, points, and offers when a promotion should NEVER require that much effort.

Executionally, the offers were far too complex, impossible to sign and merchandise, and the offers just weren't that great. Profitability? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Please let us know in which store this happened (what city). The associates are still supposed to ask you for your SYW number.

""The "mile-long receipts" (chain of coupons) stopped printing for frequent shoppers 5-6 months ago""

Wrong. It started about 2 weeks before thanksgiving. witnessed it, before my last day on Nov 21.

coupon spigot shut off , abruptly.

Works fine for me. I would rather have a sane rewards program. They let the current one get way out of control.
