Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Internal move , focal

I'm looking to move roles internally. I want to wait until the focal results are set and can't change. I see a date for the focal tool closing, can the focal results be changed after this date by a manager

Don't even talk to anyone or interview till March 31st. Interview and get a job by mid-March and leave by mid-April. This is the only way.

The GLs only care about then and their buddies. You want to move? Don't tell anybody!

DO NOT confide in anyone. DO NOT trust anyone. DO NOT talk with your manager about this now. Your career is your business.

I once had a manager tell me, "I'll start worrying about your career after I'm done worrying about mine." At least he was honest enough to say it.

I hope you are smart enough to take this warning to heart.

Maybe the manager has to let the new manager know about certain related stuff. Let’s say, the leaving one is lousy in writing codes, and the current manager did not make the new manager aware of that, the new group might suffer from the same buggy code. They might blame the former manager for not very straightforward.

I have seen people request moves to other groups and their mgmt put on the happy face saying "It's good for your career". Meantime, they speak to the receiving manager and throw the departing employee under the bus. Have seen this happen four or five times in the past five years. Seems to be a common theme. I believe the current manager is not viewed favorably by his mgmt because he was unconvincing in trying to maintain the employee. They get their revenge with a final backstab. These managers are such creeps.

why don't you talk to your manager about your career aspirations and your intentions to move? keep the option of coming back if things don't work out

One of my close friend did this and after he moved the last manager gave him SSL4 which got him the ISP. Stay where you are until after focal
