I'd like my manager to treat me like a human being but thats not going to happen.I've work for seagate for 19 years and i can honestly say its at the bottom of my list of the things i give a f*ck about. Its only a job to me.I sell my services to them and they pay me x amount of money an hour for them.

Jamie Lerner? Is that you? I don't know who's boss you are but you sure as hell are 180 out of phase with my boss and most others at Seagate who 100% reject that message. I'd like to apply for any open positions you have right now.

Dear Employees,

I hired you in the hope that you can be a good provider to your family, not to take you away from them, to give you additional skills not take your parental skills away from your kids, to make you a better person not just for the company but all the more for your family.

So when the time comes that you will have to choose between attending your sons and daughters’ school activities over a client’s needs, if you have to choose between your wife or your husband’s needs over mine as your boss, —please choose them.

You see, not all employers will understand some of my principles in leadership but I would rather close this company than seeing you miss your kids school activities because you have to be in a meeting, or seeing you getting broken because of your unfixed misunderstanding with your husband or wife. They are your home first before the company gave you a second home, they’re your family before you became mine.

I have always believed that a person who’s happy at home is also happy at work.

So, Go home. Be home.

Your work can wait. I can wait.

Your family, the home that you built, once broken, will never be the same again. You will never be the same again.

Love,

Boss

Data centers, surveillance, desktop will be transitioning to 100% flash as we go. When the inflection point hits where the growth in storage demand is outpaced by SSD adoption rates, it's the end of STX as we know it. Maybe we are there.

Samsung started QLC production in July and it will be very competitive with HDD immediately up to 4TB in 2019. Mission critical HDD will go away completely in the next calendar a year, a cash cow for STX. Notebook is already going to be gone in calendar year 2019. With QLC starting to nip at high capacity HDD, HAMR delays to transition company to higher capacities, Seagate becomes a $5-6B company by 2021-2022, half the current value, and will need half the staff. SSD and EDS will not contribute much.

SSD prices are crashing. Revenues crater, costs have to be reduced to match. Simple math.
