In this environment where there is a shortage of tax talents, these Fed, Int'l, and State tax individuals should have no trouble finding jobs in Big 4 or industry. The situation could be a blessing in disguise. Even Big 4 and industry don't usually treat their employees this badly. Big 4 just works their employees to death, but at least they are willing to pay the big bucks. Thomson Reuters pays so horribly that it is down right embarrassing. Someone should sick Bernie Sanders on them.

Managers were reduced or eliminated across international, federal and state tax. Others from Hoboken were laid off as well.

“Therefore, it would seem strange that anyone from this office would be asked to leave, unless it is for performance reasons.”

This is unlikely. The people in Tax that are being let go cost the company too much in their eyes, which is sad because you’re losing a lot of valuable experience with these people. I can confirm that several people who have been laid off have been long-time employees and it had nothing to do with performance and everything to do with cost, pure and simple.

Just wait until the sales layoffs begin in Tax. They are working their way through management and other teams right now. With the reorg, there is way too much redundancy in that area. Sadly, it’s going to be a depressing holiday season for many.

People have been laid off from Ann Arbor, too, this week, and not because of performance. It's due to the re-organization. Some teams are disappearing completely and others will be cut back, from what we understand. I'm in Ann Arbor and am expecting cuts on my team, as a matter of fact. So they could easily be getting rid of people in Carrollton, too, for the same reasons.

The Carollton office is often referred to as the Dallas office, as it is in the DFW area. This appears to be one of the locations that TR plans to keep based on other posts on this site. Therefore, it would seem strange that anyone from this office would be asked to leave, unless it is for performance reasons.

Are D&E the side of the building in Carrollton nearest to the main street? If yes, I think that's where non-Editors are, like maybe marketing and other support functions.

How many tax editors laid off in Hoboken yesterday? Were they Federal, State, and/or International? One would expect State, International, and Indirect Tax teams to be safe.

Tax editors laid off yesterday in Hoboken, so no, tax reform isn’t going to keep anyone safe.
