What's wrong with Swan as Intel's permanent CEO? He seems to be doing a good job all around...

He ia doing a decent job. The right CEO has to come from outside. Bk got eid of all capable inside candidates
BoD is still working their first choice and the second choice just became available, could be announced by Christmas

Good point -- the old CEO was a train-wreck.
Intel is doing reasonable well because he is doing nothing. BK did so much damage that anyone who will sit there just breathing will do Intel good
As interim CEO, he was expected to speak up and say that "he does not want the job" -- that is the way corporate politics and senior executive searches work...
Swan has no clue to TMG and you think Murthy thru Mike, and Anne can fix Humpty Dumpty?
No a strong and visionary leader is needed about five years ago, ship is lost
guys, he went on the record stating, "i don't want the job". why would you want someone to be CEO if he didn't want it in the first place....
for long term success, we need someone that cares about products more than path to 30.....
If Intel spins off TMG, then a CFO as CEO is not a bad idea, and he would also be a better choice to manage a portfolio of IP that the non-asset side of Intel would be left with.
A glorified beancounting dinosaur with zero vision or knowledge of technology. We already have one just like that chairing the BoD.
He's a money guy, and by my estimation, a pretty good one considering all the catastrophes around him. Still, he had a lot of assets to begin with, so maybe he's just OK - SS probably could have done the same. Whatever the real situation, he is not a tech visionary that Intel needs (think Microsoft). Intel needs BS where he is right now, nowhere else.
