Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

Silence from TR management is deafening

So we get confirmation - via a local news outlet - that TR has shut down the entire office in Rochester, N.Y.

But here in Toronto, we get no official news of anything. Just rumours circulating like crazy.

For a company that used to pride itself on a strong corporate culture, it is laughable. Where is the communication to staff?

Anyone else getting the feeling this isn’t an organization you want to stay at after the dust settles?

Hello layoffs, my old friend,

You’ve come to visit yet again.

Because decisions softly lurking

Left their seeds while we were working.

And the words of the profits are written the c-suite walls

And earnings calls.

But no one dared

Disturb the sound of silence.

Do you really think senior management like Rick 'burger' king is buying time until he reaches retirement?

Horrible management. They should be fired first as it is because of them all this is happening. Most of them wants to buy enough time to reach retirement age. Disgusting upper management better to find a new place as this is in any case a sinking ship.....

Yes. I saw it in 2013. Again in 2016. Especially in the US. This is the culture and TR has fully embraced it. Remember: this break-up/sale has been in the works since 2012-13. Management has been planning for this for many years.

It's sad that senior management would handle lay offs this way. They don't seem to recognize that people talk and information leaks out. They've completely lost control of the conversation and fostered an atmosphere of dread that will have an impact long after the last person walks out the door.

No one is so naive to question why companies lay off staff and close offices, but rip the damned band aid off already and have a bit more respect for your workforce.

The official statement made to the local Rochester news stations - TR declined to say how many employees in Rochester are impacted - said they "weren't sure". I'm QUITE sure they know. Just the fact that they had to rent 3 ballrooms at the Hyatt to make the announcement to everyone is obvious that it's more than just 75-100 people. We're looking at 400+ people. And for a city like Rochester - not exactly known for it's booming local economy, it's a HUGE hit.

Suggest when they hold the inevitable all-hands meeting and crease their brow in fake concern as they tell of the "tough choices", just ignore them. No questions. Turn your back and leave.

Or kneel.

This management team have driven us into the wall, saved themselves and in their silence, damned their reputations forever. #NoTrustPrinciples
