Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Clients want cheap

Clients want cheap. Cheap and heavy contractual penalties keeps a client happy.

They say they want quality, but not true quality. "Working" is the only quality they want.

The only time cheap labour is a problem is when DXC are charging a premium price and skimping on the ingredients to maximise profit.

Anyway, gig economy - I did hear of a plan a while back to basically offload employees to an agency then for DXC to use that agency to provide staff on an as and when basis. The staff would be self employed, contracted to the agency.

So, DXC need a DBA to fix a problem, call up agency, get DBA. Problem fixed in 5 hours, DXC pay 5 hours to the agency, DBA gets 5 hours pay. See you next time we have a database problem Mr DBA, might be a month. Hope you and your family haven't starved to death in the meantime.

You don't get paid holiday, you don't get sick pay, you don't get pension (401k).

Of course this practice is widespread outside of the IT world. Its increasingly the way things are going, with people trying to hold down dozens of small rubbish jobs to get a consistent 40 hour working week.

But this is just another example of profit taking by companies whilst scr3wing the employee.

Your profits are only soaring DXC because that's our money you are stealing.

Cheap, good, fast. You can get two of the three, not all three. DXC makes sure Cheap is not one of them.

Listen DXC is sh--, I’ll be the first to admit to that.

However OP has a point. I have had the displeasure of hearing this in a private conversation with my VP. Clients don’t even want to pay for testing these days.

Whilst normal people would find that bonkers it’s a fact. Not all clients are like this, but many of them are!

Lots of people still want quality, those people have long since deserted DXC giving the impression that there's a race to the bottom.

From the inside of DXC looking out the IT industry seems like it's going to hell, once your on the other side you realise that the basketcase is DXC
