Thread regarding Sears layoffs

The KMart in Farmingville, NY is getting evicted by the landlord. Apparently, they were supposed to repave their parking lot back in 2012. They never did, so in 2017 the landlord did it for them and billed KMart. Of course KMart didn't pay the bill, so now the landlord is holding them in violation of the lease.

So whatever doesn't sell for "Up to 70%Off " at the last place gets shuttled down the highway 150 miles to the next stop?

They will not close 150 stores after the 140 just closed. This is too taxing on the liquidators and the logistics. The 140 stores closing were a cash grab before Christmas. After Christmas they will close another 50-60 stores and continue to close stores until mid 2019 when the whole company will be liqidated. This of course is contingent on the recent closing stores making enough money to get them to Christmas and the BK court.

Only two Kmarts will be left in Maine.

Well if the paradise, CA Kmart makes it out of the Latest wildfire I would be shocked. The town is under mandatory evacuation and from what I hear the store had flames near its roof a few hours ago. Top 25 or 50 store I believe.

So this contradicts the recent posts on this board which stated that the list of 150 stores under review was to be converted in its entirety to a closing list.

40 stores have been listed for closure...not 150.

@W203u68-yvy Bridgeview and Des Plaines only ones not slated to close (yet). Used to be 2 in Oak Lawn if you know the area.

Guess Puerto Rico stores weren’t very profitable.

The plan is moving on. No chapter7. Down to the best stores and it'll be all sunshine and roses.

Des Plaines is safe

If they are closing the Kedzie & Addison ave store in Chicago that's really a shame. This is a busy store that many in the neighborhood depend on. Guessing they want out of Chicago proper due to the higher minimum wage they have to pay there. We used to have at least a dozen Kmart's in the Chicago metro area.... down to 1 or 2 now?

For the love of God would you please hurry up and get to my store.

What? Wait, Kmart is coming back stronger than ever. Maybe they are going to renovate them and reopen. Yeah that's it.

Fresh new stores to get me some new Nascar shirts, sleeveless NFL pullovers and fake Crocs. I can't wait.

Leaves at most 2 Kmart's in Illinois. I don't know about Des Plaines store. I am in Illinois.
