Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Can anybody confirm this?

NT/BST's offered a voluntary package today. $50k plus two weeks pay per year of service, up to 12 weeks total and any un-used vacation. So it comes out to roughly $75k for a senior tech to leave. Then eliminating those positions that are vacated. Company direction is that they are cutting back on NT/BST count. Those positions will be moved over to CST's for more head count, but at a much lower rate and a $10 less an hr top out.

I have not heard anything, BST in Ohio. My question is, why would they just hand us 50k when they could simply lay us off, pay severance and keep the 50k in their greedy pocket?

I talked to a FL ILEC NT and they had a conference call Monday morning with their manager. It was offered to them at that time. Turn in paper work by mid November and last day would be beginning of Dec.
