I know two Qcom RF engineers hired by Apple, both relocated to bay area last year. They are both working on a 4G/5G modem. I'm told Deirdre OShay also landed up there working on 5G. Apple is not sittting idle on modem development.
They are now seriously looking for Modem talent from Q now.
I've been hearing for the last few years that they're trying to make a modem. How hard should it be for a company with more cash than anyone else to make a modem? They're not making a modem. And the only reason their Apps processor is better than SDM's is because it has almost 3x the cache.
Apple wants to own and lead modem just like they do in AP
Heard its a phantom project. They just want slow down Q by removing talent. Once its done they'll discard the team. Its cheaper to acquire q on the cents.
Apple doesnt want its own modem, but it does want to sink Q.
Apple already has an internal team working on 5G HW and SW development. They are expanding their effort and hiring a large team in San Diego. Jump the sinking ship while Apple opportunity is still here !
Apple will recruit real talent from qualcomm. Big pressure for Q.
Apple is not going to build a modem. If they wanted to build a modem, they would have done so already. Samsung and Huawei already have 5G modems, and Apple has far more resources than them. Truth is that Apple is good at HW, but not at SW, and a modem is all SW.
I would like to join apple in San Diego. Wow beaches and apple in same city.
Dont worry. Apple is smart. They are focusing on modem team only.
Good news let’s jump the sink boat
Ya....like they are stupid enough to hire from here
I am sure if they hire all the bozos left in Qualcomm, they will accelerate their own deterioration.
