Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Anxious

We are anxious too - me and my SO work together for Ford, we fear what may happen if the cut is as deep as they predict. With three kids at home, a sick parent and all eggs in one basket (Ford) we are not in the best position. I hope all turns out good but have my doubts.

God bless...

Start applying now. If you're not looking at LinkedIn, you should be

Depending on what you're doing (are you in Metro Detroit?) other OEM's, research houses, suppliers, all looking for people. If you're a factory worker, you're probably fine.

ford is overweight; reckless hiring for autonomous driving in last 5 years. Fat got to melt someday

If you get an email from the CEO that says "don't worry" about restructuring or similar, GTFO immediately.

Writing on the wall, only a matter of time.

Been laid off from 2 jobs, both in my career field, with zero prior notice (other than a "don't worry" type email). Both of which, I was at for more than 5 years consecutively (one of them closer to 10..). I've now avoided another layoff because of my own advice. I GTFO of there ASAP, and this one came with a promotion instead of unemployment.
