If the company goes bankrupt since we will be liquidating are we still allowed to give a two week notice before store closes.
The only reason I ask is because if sears ever comes back like toys r us maybe if you want to ever get rehired etc.
What about now that stores are just closing and company is not bankrupt. Can you leave before the store is closed? And still me classified as re-hireable?
I hear that once you find a job somewhere else you will question yourself as to why you stayed so long with a company that does nothing for employees!

@icm I agree with you that Toys "R" Us won't be coming back as a physical retail store, but they'll likely make a comeback as an e-retailer.
Believe me once you leave you won’t want to come back. As many have said in this forum there are plenty of jobs that a hiring, do yourself a favor and start looking. If you haven’t tested the market in awhile, go on practice interviews by applying to positions you have little to no interest. This will build your confidence for the interview process later. You will be surprised when companies offer you more money for the same/similar job description. Good luck!

OP is referring to news articles in the last week about Toys R Us, but the articles don't really mean what OP thought. Any time a major retail company goes under these days, somebody still owns the rights to the company's name, and will license it to other companies for marketing purposes. IIRC Tigerdirect used to do that with several bankrupt technology retailers, set up a redirect from other companies' old websites to their own. The major bankruptcy creditors of Toys R Us were going to sell those licensing rights to another company, but instead they decided to set up their own company to handle the licensing themselves and share the profits. There are no plans to reopen stores AFAIK.
as long as you give proper notice you should be OK to be hired again. its probably a good idea - radio shack came back and has over 100 stores now.
Toys R Us isn't coming back.
