Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Customer Data is Priceless

Eddie gutted the company on purpose and will keep Shop Your Way around. Just watch. He datamined the Sears and Kmart customer base for 12 years now and got his worth out of it. Now he has all of the information of millions of rewards members and that will be where the real money is. People are going to have their information sold more than likely.

Oh no...someone may know what sports team I like or how big my house is or if I'm shopping for tires in the next month (some random poll questions I remember from the WinIt games). This data is pretty much worthless. I imagine most people just pick phony answers anyway. Also,,I always loved in the WinIt games that ads would pop up for Walmart of all places.

There are a plethora of entities that collect and analyze consumer data. Every major retailer already has their own datamining system in operation. There are a slew of reward programs tailored to specifically benefit the companies that offer them. There isn't anything unique or groundbreaking about SYW. It failed to draw and retain customers for the SHLD organization or to increase profits. So why would any company be interested in what SYW has to offer?

There is value in this data.

However, I'd say that value is very limited if compared to what the competitors have.

I can tell you the data in it is useless. No one buys systems from BK companies for a premium. What are we even taking about It?

that data simply doesn't matter. Sears is a tiny part of all retail, and sells the same products other retailers do. The information isn't valuable, isn't unique, and isn't predictive. No one cares.

The data from SYW Rewards is LESS than USELESS. A great number of those "members" were fraudulent to begin with. Another huge percentage has died off. Sears became God's Little Waiting Room afterall.

There are very many much better rewards program platforms and far more accurate data sets to access.

Everything Eddie touches dies.

Analytics from a platform from a failed company is near worthless no matter how granular, unless you want to study the purchase habits of a company in decline.
