Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Did any of your managers talk about the news of a looming bankruptcy? Any disscussion on Pebble?

Or is it all silence?

Apparently Sears is looking to start bankruptcy proceedings. M-III Partners was the firm hired to consult with them.

Anyone threatened with a write up for even asking about it? It's been said on here that most GM's tend to ridicule any concerns based on facts or anything that's negative, but factual.

What is the mood like in the stores? Are customers jumping to conclusions and asking when your closing for good? (This will probably be a Chapter 11 filing, so no total liquidation, at least yet).

What about the mood at corporate HQ? same question: are your managers trying to keep things under wraps? What about any credible rumors?

There was no mention of it today since it broke late in the afternoon...but...the rally meetings tomorrow should be interesting. I happen to clock in right after the store opens at 10 but maybe I will show up a little early just to see if they say anything. Will the bring up the subject at all? If so, I wonder if they will be telling us not to panic. I wonder if corporate will be sending out links to a prerecorded video for us to see, like they did the last time there was some kind of panic/stir of rumors?

I think that it is best to say that it is probably too late to use any vacation time. We're blacked out until mid-January and who knows what will happen between now and then. Even if we pull through this bankruptcy, two-thirds of the entire store base will probably close right off the bat and the bankruptcy lawyers will probably advise to do away with vacation payouts and severances unless a store is located in a state that forbids that.

In my store I am the most outspoken person of how things are at Sears. You will hear the ASM, SM, Supervisors say that things are fine and that the media just is negative, but in reality its not. Things are coming to an end I can't wait till I actually hear that we are pretty much done.

I have spoken to my co workers that the end is near to use all your sick days and vacations because when we file you will lose all that good stuff. Customers all the time still ask are we closing yet. I tell them not that I know of yet. Although I find it ridiculous when people still buy at Sears despite we might finally go BK in the end.

In my store a lot will be affected lots of my co workers really rely on Sears heavily its just pretty sad overall.
