Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Holiday Hiring Season Is Upon Us

Everywhere. Not Sears. This is the time of year to make that move in retail. Sure you can hang on at Sears/Kmart hoping to get 4 paychecks w/o working for them but is it worth it? What rate do you think the appliance people are going to get?

Do you think Attorney Carr is going to recommend you get severance?

To the poster below: I wish that were true. Around here your Sears and especially Kmart experience is not respected. Appliances maybe but softlines, hard lines, back room, etc isn't because you're perceived to be behind the times, lazy, unmotivated, etc.

You will get a job because the state has a very low unemployment rate but Sears, unfortunately is a negative. Of course you can easily prove everyone wrong because many Sears employees are good people to have on staff.

That’s funny because whoever left sears and applied to any other company got hired immediately so please get your facts straight before writing negative / false info

Try and get in with Costco if you can. If you can shake the slowness of Sears, relearn a good work ethic in a store that is always busy, and really hussle and set yourself apart, there is a chance they will keep you past the Holidays.

If you're staying out of loyalty to your coworkers, remember that you might be setting a good example by leaving. Showing someone that it can be done and giving them the courage to leave too. This holiday season is going to want to make you cry if you stay.

It will be nice to have something on your resume that is not Sears because I can tell you from experience no one is impressed by your loyalty to Sears. It's treated as though you have no work experience for the time you were there.
