Diversity!

Oh, diversity. Such a sweet word, a noble concept! However, take a moment to review Finch’s new organizational chart and tell me what you see? All men? All middle-aged? All white? Mini fortunes invested into diversity initiatives seem to offer a minuscule return on the investment, the song remains the same… It is still 1950s around here.

It's not racism if it's against white people. It's not s-xism if it's against men. It's not ageism if you're an old white man.

Refinitiv will send every job possible to India. Via stealth outsourcing to TCS mainly.

I was recently on a WebEx where everyone except me was Indian. Being a caucasian working in enterprise IT is the exception, not the rule. So-called lack of diversity comes in many forms, but people only see what they want to see.

Dear lord listen to you!

If I heard a child talking like this I would blame the parents, but you're adults and choose to spew this vile language. Since when did this sort of discussion benefit from personal insults and hateful language? I suggest you take your disrespectful, spiteful and otherwise unhelpful comments to twitter where they belong.

No reason to hire a diverse work force? Nooo of course not. It's good to have everyone the same age, weight, height, s-x, ethnicity, education background etc because then they all think differently don't they?

I think you've just disproved that.

There are people on here worried for their future they're family and they're financial and, by extension, health. I hope you are ashamed of yourself when you read back your posts. I hope, but doubt it.....

If you are a white, 35 plus man whose career has stalled just face it, you aren't as good as you thought you were, so s--- it up and grow some b@lls. No one to blame but yourself.

However most F&R departments with a few exceptions are a sausage fest, senior management should reflect the workforce. You want more female senior managers then bring them in at the junior level and have a level playing field for all.

Person chiming in with "men are maybe just better"... Do you seriously not see what the problem with your statement is?? For sure hope you never have to make a hiring decision... Definitely wouldn't be biased at all.... Smdh

Diversity is hard to achieve in technical roles in some circumstances.

When I recruited for 6 heads over 4 years from the 150 CV I got , I had 1 female candidate.

We even put the job description thou an AI to check if we had used Male orientated words or phrases.

Yes such a thing exists on the web :-)

With reference to the single female candidate , I attempted to telephone interview the person and she since applying had decided to stay with current employer.

I wrote the “grim reflection” post you’re attacking.

I’m a white middle-aged man with a degree and phd in respected disciplines. I’m not whining and no one is s-xist against me, or looking down on me despite what you state. The world makes way for me just fine, thanks. I still believe that zero female representation in the group of decision makers is a problem.

Grim reflection on s-xism?

Or maybe men work harder? Or longer? Or are better? Or maybe its just your perception?

S--- it up; i wouldnt be able to compete against 6’ 5” basketball players.. and i wouldnt complain. Is that heightism?

Stop your whining. No one is s-xist against you. But we do look down on you for asking for extra help. So even if you get the job, we wont trust you

I agree with the person who said, "Diversity in the workplace should mean that anyone QUALIFIED for a role should get it, regardless of ..." Hiring a diversity candidate for any reason other than being qualified for the position is no better than hiring a white male because he is the son of someone's best friend from college... there are plenty of these around.

All middle-aged - wouldn’t expect anyone with lee experience honestly. All men - a grim reflection of s-xism throughout society, in my opinion. But look again, they are not all white.

The ridiculous “diversity” card is one of the literal drivers that got us into this to begin with. Everything should be merit based. No, you no longer get a free psd to promotion because you’re a woman, black, Alien, flower or something else. TR put people in positions for “diversity” not skill- and LOOK what happened. Successful organizations (Bloomberg, etc) base everything off skill and merit- not race or gender...and that’s fair.

Diversity in the workplace should mean that anyone QUALIFIED for a role should get it, regardless of race, color, gender, etc. How does it help anyone if unqualified people are offered roles just to fill an arbitrary quota or to maintain public appearance? Then when that person is finally let go for being completely clueless, out comes the race card, gender card, lawyers, etc.

Why is diveristy noble? Why isnt merit and color blindness more noble? How is exellence acheived by lowering standards? How is it not racist snd s-xist to view people in terms of their race and s-x?

Brainwashed fools

Ever notice there is no push for diversity for low paid jobs? Or how about a non black quotas in pro sports teams

You id--ts think you are fooling people, but you are after handouts, money and power. Not fairness. Work hard- you have the some opportunity as anyone else.

Everyone is waking up to your game

In UK, we have huge problem with diversity. Labour had all woman shortlists, most of the time we end up with male MPs. Why? Even if we restricted votes to women only, we'd still end up with mostly male MPs, because women vote for them.

Funny thing about diversity. It rarely has anything to do with who gets job.
