EVERYONE HATES these waste of time meetings! EVERYONE!
It costs the company a fortune and the information can easily be passed on during the employees' regular schedule.

The HOLIDAY MEETING was the most inane event of the year at the store I worked at (and was laid off from last Feb.) The last one in Nov. 2017 was a waste of time. Managers doing skits and yukking it up and then they give out awards spouting such B.S. about people you hear them talking about in a negative way the rest of the year. These events are monotonous and a sideshow where you nothing except about how much phony B.S. they can shovel from 6 am to 9 am. Oh, and god help you if you have then close that day. YOU get up at the crack of dawn, get there and then have to go home to nap and then return.
Working at Barnes and Noble is like a cult. No one is allowed to speak ill of the company, at least not publicly or even privately on a FB page. Despite the obvious issues the company is having (and will continue to have), after reading the FB page you'd swear that everything was hunky dory, and there were no issues at all with the company, which is obviously not true. At least a few people post here and state how shabby the company is, and yes, there is someone from corporate who trolls here, and he/she has the maturity of a child.
I wouldn't recommend posting there at all. It's full of snitches and even if you're expressing something about your work conditions or those of your fellow workers, which is your legal right under federal law, it'll end up getting back to your DM.
There's at least one manager who loves to troll this page, as well, but at least this is anonymous.
I quit that page. It's a joke.
No one ever complains about the company, not even mildly. They talk about their favorite books, silly customer stories, and how to put up displays. Inane chit chat. They never talk about how bad the company is doing.
