Thread regarding Sears layoffs

The Nightmare continues - Niles store is closing

Sears is closing the store in north suburban Niles. That’s another 75 people without a job. It’s symptomatic that this store was not on the list of 46 stores that were set to close by the end of the year. I get it that the company is cutting costs and getting rid of assets in a desperate effort to stay afloat, but to do it in such an unorganized way and such panic is definite proof that the management has no clear strategy of getting us out of this mess. Keep in mind that there are no rules anymore and that nobody can feel safe. Feel for the guys that were let go.

They are NOT closing stores trying to "stay afloat". This is exactly what the plan has been all along. Convert Sears and Kmart assets into ESL and Seritage assets where they will have liquidity. See Sears Canada for a blueprint.

Just the beginning. Just wait for the announcements of closings over the next few weeks.
