Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Remember to take your vacation time

Just a reminder that our black out period is comming up soon. And who knows if we will be in business after it ends. If your hours are getting cut just take your vacation time now so you can still get a decent check.

@2bdh True in California although it can take a little time to distribute the funds while the bankruptcy court approves the disbursements.

Unfortunately, if you haven't earned the vacation hours yet that you have taken . . . they will deduct it from your last paycheck.

employees get paid first , including vacation pay in a bankruptcy. No fear in not getting paid. They will sell off assets to pay employees first before any vendor landlord etc.

You get your vacation time whether you quit or get fired unless the company goes bankrupt. You’ll have some notice when bankruptcy occurs. Take your vacation immediately following the announcement.

Let's be honest. You're a pathetic troll who would be better served flipping burgers at Burger King. Go pound sand.

Let's be honest. They couldn't get rid of you quickly enough, because you were a slacker.

I've put in for vacation when there wasn't a blackout period and it was denied every single time. Finally I just quipped that I'd put in my two weeks to be able to get some time off and that fixed that real quick. It was even during a blackout period.

They didn't want to lose me because I was the only person who stuck it out through thick and thin for 24 years. Out of those 24 years, I was almost always above parity in PAs and credit each month despite the falling foot traffic. I was working 50 hour weeks for that past year because they couldn't hold on to anybody long enough. I was carrying brand central in that store, especially for the past five years.

The straw that broke the camel's back was that I finally got tired of seeing the dwindling foot traffic and my commissions going right with it. I was tired of competing against my own company (online), or getting a call from a call center salesperson to answer their questions so that they could make a sale. I was tired of making a sale and having it cancelled because of our dim bulbs who make up the delivery crew can't stop screwing up. I was tired of being the one to "mentor" the new hires that would come and go and having to do the legwork for their sales (rerings, cancellations, delivery problems, having to walk them through each step on the register after a year of working there--if they made it that long, having to pull ad or promos the next morning because the teenagers or lazy bums who worked the previous night chose not to do it the last hour of their shift, and on and on and on). The store manager and assistant bugged me EVERY single day asking if I was sure if I wanted to leave and if there was anything they could do to get me to stay. They were groveling at my feet. As Carole King said, it's too late!
