Alwyn Lewis was good at talking. Retail business is way above his head.

Alwyn Lewis... that brings back some fond memories....one of his ideas was for corporate people to work in the stores.... this could have worked well if they provided some training first, they just put folks in the stores and they had no idea of what to do, and the store folks already have too many things to do plus also expecting them to babysit people who don't know how to work at the registers, (or any other basic store function) etc. I recall one of the shoe dept managers telling me that shrink in the foot ware dept was very high, like 25 percent+ so I reported this back to my manager at corporate... was anything done about that? Doubt it. One silly idea after another and now here we are.... on the threshold of Armageddon......

This is true

He never valued people.

The list of losers he made presidents over the years that had very limited retail experience showed this. Starting with AL through MDJ

KFC, applebees, pets mart and the list goes on.

It was done by design to grab real estate. Whoever heard of a retailer not interested in Sales?

The Pension debt pisses him off because it was representative of a great company that valued its people.

And by the way. Enough of this member c-ap already. Here is an idea. Try taking care of ALL customers.
