We have all heard these rumors for years. I work in a call center and my boss has not said a word about this. For my part, I’m not going to go to work just to get paid ( or not) or to get retention bonuses ( we don’t get any) I’m going to work just as hard as I do everyday making sure customers deliveries and install are scheduled correctly unlike the Corporate employees.

Read the financial pages. Sears is hosed. Lack of contemporaneous cash-flow is going to be the killer. Vendors will not provide inventory any longer without payment in advance. Cash is not coming in from customers. Payroll still needs to be paid. It's a dumpster fire.
Please, please, get your resume out there and find something new to take care of yourself. Try to beat the panic'd stampede.
All I know is my manager has not said anything. I happen to work for Innovel Solutions, we do the deliveries for Sears and other clients and this division does make money.
They aren't rumors. The company is broke. Or do you think all the news articles are fake?
