Schlumberger would be better off getting rid of the huge redundant inventory that is gathering dust in its warehouses. With the share price heading south, large and generous ' use us' inducements and far too many supervisors, business initiatives and managers, Paal needs to bolster the already nervous and twitching investors.

Much of this is due to planners, whose optimism deserves framing, over ordering parts with an amount of breath-taking arrogance shovelled on them by upper management.
