Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

This explains why Enbridge can so easily lay off local employees

So, Enbridge thinks that paying its employees is equivalent to providing a social service, and thinks it can justify the degradation of employees’ compensation because it is simply not a “social service organization.”

Of all the arrogant things I’ve heard come out of this company’s mouthpieces, that is one of the worst.

That explains why Enbridge can so easily lay off local employees and contract out to overseas sweatshops.

It also explains why no one trusts Enbridge with the Great Lakes. Protecting water isn’t a social service either, so Enbridge won’t do it.

the layoffs, cuts to employee compensation, title changes and cutbacks to community causes are due to a mean spiritedness among ELT more than anything else

It has been interesting, although sad, to watch how quickly Enbridge has fallen from being a company that took pride in being a community leader to being one that considers community involvement to be beneath it.

It’s like watching the Trump administration as it goes about reversing decades of progressive thinking, programs and policies.
