Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

What if we do not agree on the new contract?

My question is we're obviously starting off at definitive on October 1 meaning to the best of my knowledge we are going to be on a new contract

If that is the case then I would have to sign a new contract, but what if I do not agree to the new terms? I cannot be forced to sign? Can I ask for an exit package instead?

Will we be given the choice? Sign the new contract or leave?

To the point about being vulnerable. Uh, yes. The company is not their to provide you with security forever. In fact BS could have chosen to not honor anything. They probably did so to mitigate lawsuits.

Honestly, you guys sound either very naive about how businesses work, or just greedy.

The TR packages are generous. Take a package and find a new job.

And if you are in a country that has few job options, think about it before you vote for id--ts who want to tax that c-ap out of companies- it kills job growth.

On a postive note- you are leaving a sinking ship. The chances are you will end up in a more stable place, where you are more valued. It might take a few months, but stop worrying. I have been there

This is very valid can anyone from the HR plz elaborate because we really do not want to be forced into signing terms we do not agree with

We were not even consulted for this acquisition so why be forced to sign

I agree you will have a choice, but I think that choice will be in April 2019, for now you stick to the same terms and eventually if they want to pressure you out they will by putting pressure on all of you until you leave for a fraction of the cost as someone mentioned above

That 9 month window is Blackstone declaring find a new job. Blackstone will rather keep your knowledge for 9 months, get you on their contract then discard you for a fraction of what you would have received. Of course each country has different laws but that will be how treat people where it’s not so friendly to the worker. I think you all know which location that is.

That is exactly what is going on in my mind it does make sense to honor the contract for 9 months but that means after 9 months we are vulnerable to anything

I think Refinitiv will honor Thomson contract terms for 9 months.
