Maybe the Family will pay the money back like J.B. Pritzker?

So will the Family be paying back the state tax breaks that Democratic Governor Quinn (Big Corporations need to pay their fair share of taxes) gave Follett for staying in Illinois? Or has the Family spent those dividends already and us poor laid off schmucks should just lump it?

And that is the question, unless stores will become warehouses & expected to crank out oms orders.

Why do you have to close any warehouse due to a shift in online sales of text? Wouldn't you need it more, because the books don't have to be in the stores?

Actually I don't work at ADC or home office so I had not heard this. I appreciate the article as it is factual about what is happening in other parts of the company. Please keep posting as much information as you can because getting reliable information is challenging.

Great point. It's the employees who are responsible for crushing morale. After years of emotional beatings, (if you haven't been laid off, forced to quit or otherwise driven out because you're too old and have too much experince), a person citing an article where truthful information is disclosed is morale crushing.

The morale? Try the Link or the Quad sweetheart, this is thelayoff.com site, not a company sponsored site. That said, your opinion is important to us, what did you think of this post?

An additional 81 workers will be laid off (on top of thousands over the past 5 years at Follett) at the Aurora service center of Follett Higher Education Group, which will close its physical warehouse operations by February to focus on its online marketplace. The affected positions including receiving, packing, shipping and maintenance, said Tom Kline, vice president of corporate communications.

Follett, which is based in Westchester, Ill., provides books, entertainment products and digital content to libraries, college campuses, schools and community booksellers. The closure of the Aurora facility, a warehouse and distribution point for college-level textbooks, is tied to an industry shift to selling textbooks online, Kline said.
