Thread regarding Sears layoffs

I used to sell appliances for Sears. Glad to know that they are banned from selling them in 32 states.

I felt so sleazy pushing those things especially to senior citizens on a fixed income, families of limited means or young couples just starting out on their own. I even felt bad for pushing PAs on those who could have easily afforded them because all of our competitors had similar plans for less than half the cost of ours.

What really made me feel bad was when a customer of mine ended up needing the PA at a time when they needed it the most, and Sears brushed them off. None of the managers seemed even the least concerned when I tried to get them to get the customer taken care of.

I hated having to put up with all of the "what'cha got?" every time a manager walked past me, as if I was only good for how many PAs I sold. The whole experience just felt sleazy. So, to all the higher ups at Sears, I have this to say to you: what goes around -- comes around!

I agree with the OP. It was a dirty business because I saw people time & time again having trouble getting their appliances serviced. I bought at Best Buy and when my LG washer had an issue, they were there for me quickly. When I replaced my dryer at Best Buy, I volunteered to purchase the plan because I knew it was worth something.

The Best Buy credit card also offered by Citi, has a much better scheme of giving you rewards faster too.

Only time I felt anything is when a old lady recognized me while shopping at wal-mart and was complaining she still couldn't buy groceries because her frig still doesn't work. I told her my frig works fine. F. Off

@nez Between the constant butchering of commissions and the foot traffic dropping precipituously YoY, there wasn't much of a check to cash!

I agree , I worked for the tech assist division. I got sick to my stomach when I heard a tech over the phone trying to sell a customer a PA knowing when they needed service it would take days of missed appointments and the tech would probably not have the parts needed meaning more delays and if it was not repairable , good luck getting it replaced under the PA .
