The benefits of the RedHat acquisition

Even though I am very sceptical about the RedHat purchase, I gotta admit that that this article points out some good things that can come from this. In any case I think that IBM overpaid a great deal for RedHat, and at this point I think it will depend on the IBM leadership, and the way they plan to integrate RedHat into the company, whether this buy will be a benefit or the biggest failure.

IBM is where innovative software companies go to die.

Since quitting IBM I have done unusually well shorting IBM stock. I am doubling-down because of the Red Hat deal. Every acquisition I dealt with in my last stint with IBM failed miserably. I see no reason to expect a better outcome.

IBM continues to be a great investment on the down side. Keep up the bad work Ginni.

If they keep RH far away from any IBM bloat processes like they promised things could be good.

If IBM does what they did with Softlayer (rename, IBM'd up) then RH is toast.
