Sears looks back to the future: woos shoppers with Craftsman, WishBook and Kenmore repairs

I went into the Sears store at Eastview Mall in Victor, New York. It’s in close-out mode and scheduled to close in November. I was looking for a deal on a rolling tool chest. Sure enough, the 5 drawer 27”, that I was looking for was marked down, at the close-out price of $259, regular price is $279. Thinking the price was still a little high, I left. On the way home I needed to stop at Lowe’s to pick up some stuff for my snow blower and, here is EXACTLY the same 5 drawer rolling tool chest, for $229. I bought it and got an additional 5% off for using my Lowe’s charge card.

I simply won’t shop Sears or Kmart for the holidays. I’m not remotely interested of putting my family or friends through the experience of exchanging or returning gifts at a store that may or may not exist.
