Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

More Target stores closing

Two stores in Chicago are closing, the Chatham location and Morgan Park location. Supposedly, these stores were under performing, which is worrying me. I wouldn't say my store is under performing, but it's not doing great either.

Does anybody know how to determine if your store might be the next one on the list?

I think their numbers are quite artificially inflated for sales and profits. The annual GC event reflects a huge artificial profit which is reversed when people use them. Additionally, I've seen clearance prices that are so low they are actually laughable. A comparitively enormous to prior years turnover of TL's and ETL's to the point one can't even keep them straight so SOMETHING is up. Older people and disabled seem to be disappearing as well.

Is your store making sales projections consistently? Did it make sales last year? Is your store making payroll numbers? Did it last year. If you are not making one or both consistently you will know as you will be constantly cutting hours. These are the signs you are “underperforming.”
