Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

"Ex-TR Employees"

Asking myself why an Ex-TR employee, in the middle of a workday would be posting on a layoff site about how great life is outside TR. This is the last place you'd find me if I found a great job and was loving life after TR.

Especially in the middle of a workday.

Oh, and for the record, every company on this site gets posts exactly like the ones we just had. Someone saying "There's life after _" and how they're "better off now" etc.

Never forget that anyone can post anything here and say whatever they want with zero verification, and they do, with varied motives. Everything from fear mongers to corporate HR/PR trying to spin the truth or mitigate the fallout and anger of their recently laid off employees.

I chose to leave TR before these most recent waves of layoffs. I’m glad I did. Why am I here then? Well, I truly loved working at TR and with my team. Why did I leave then? Uncertainty and a better opportunity collided at the same time.

I’m happy I left but I’m still invested in the many friends I made at TR over many years. Not sure if that context makes much sense but I felt like it needed to be expressed.

It's because it's an HR person.

Yes thanks @VUVDZeB it must be impossible for an ex-TR person to get a job, or shock horror, a better one... Ooh.... Clearly extensive surveys have shown that being made redundant at TR is 100% guaranteed to be the end of life as we know it and what we must suggest to everyone going through this terrible experience not to believe such things. After all we care about them and such comments can only them help. Great to know there are people who have such confidence in their colleagues skills and abilities and simply want to spread constructive help & support... Well done!!

I agree with @VUVDZeB-1rpy. There are many long term colleagues at TR who have not had to search for a new position at a new company for 10, 15, 20 + years. Many colleagues have developed emotional connections to the organization, and have close relationships with colleagues. If you're not a user of Linked In, it's a pretty good way to stay connected to professional colleagues and for professional networking. That may be useful for managing feelings of loss. Life beyond TR exists, and you don't have to lose contact with the colleagues who have become friends.

I don’t see the issue, it’s a nice reminder that amongst all the understandable negative vibes we’re feeling that someone is letting us know it could wind up better for us afterwards. I think it’s a nice gesture and definitely takes the edge off all the negativity here.

Maybe you would prefer we tell you how horrible things are going to be? Even if it was fine after we left (and i am a different person than the other poster).

And why do you assume that we are not posting while relieving ourselves?

Asking myself why a "happy" TR employee, in the middle of the night, is posting about how great things are at work and why we shouldn't listen to people that found something better.

Actually, I lie. I'm not wondering why at all.

I wasn’t laid off. I resigned post close and Refinicrp is still exactly that. Life is better outside, unless you’re a lazy incompetent spin doctor. Then you should stay at Refinicrp.

I can guarantee you life outside of TR is way better. I was at TR legal for way longer than I should have and left after one of the million reorgs during my tenure. That one took 2 years to complete, BTW. I haven't looked back and the PTSD of layoffs, reorgs, etc is finally wearing off.

Embrace the next journey because it's a better one. And reach out to your former TR colleagues. We are happy to help.

This could definitely be true, but if the posts are genuine it is nice for one to take the time.
