Is there going to be any reorg or VMware Layoffs in 2019?

Today we heard that across BUs 5% of previously planned budget had to be released back to corporate and that was the primary driver for yesterday's events - "skills realignment with business goals"....
This company having fashion to layoff it seems. Company cant trust to employee then employee also do the same. Layoff is fine if it occurs once in a five year. They dont have clear plan for five years then why they do hire people.
sure, yes layoffs. There is no "retirement" at vmware, so cannot confirm that rumor or any of the others in this thread. Understandably, people are bitter. Allow yourself some time to grieve because you deserve it. Then move on... for your well-being! My heart goes out to those impacted.
Yea, VMware used to a great place to work but they keep messing up. The latest c-appy thing they did was wait until the end of the year to fund the 401K matching. This makes it hard to plan ahead, you miss any gains for the year, and if you get laid off in December you get none of the match.
Same here, being close to retirement. I'm thinking possible ADEA violations. Will ask HR to provide a list of the ages of people RIFed.
Laid off... one year before retirement; isn't such a great company for older workers - older women workers for sure.
Our team in CMBU has lost number of members outside of PA so far, not sure how many yet...
Seems to be in PA - chop the high salaries. Performance doesn't matter.
Anything in Enterprise Southeast?
I heard the head counts for CPBU were finalized yesterday in prom B in one of the VP staff meeting.
@VTslmok-1ojab: which BU location are you?
All of this uncertainty and stress leading up to this is annual ritual is so not an EPIC value....
Where and in what BUs are you people located? That kind of info is pretty important.
My manager asked me to be there on 29 Jan. So I am worried too.
Tuesday 29th is d-day and my manager just scheduled 9am inperson meeting which is extremely unusual
touchbase scheduled for Monday..anyone else with me? anything to worry?
heard around 5% will be, but nothing has been confirmed.
Layoff's at VMWare are an annual occurrence and typically are announced in January. Although internal promotion is difficult due to politics these layoff cycles are used to weed out high salary employees for their roles although as much as it is under performers.
Nothing has been confirmed
have to keep the accountants happy!
Yes. Layoffs in GSS.
