Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Whirlpool want their goods back

Even though nobody can argue this, as the law states that a supplier can ask for the return of merchandise, if it was supplied to the retailer 45 days or less prior to the ch11 Filing, and at this point it is not even important if it’s physically possible to return the appliances, but this is a sad reminder of how once partnering companies don't believe that Sears will survive. If Whirlpool, as the largest unsecured creditor wants out, and save as much money as it could be saved at this point, what can the remaining Sears workers expect when all this goes downhill, and how the hell can they expect to get what the company owes them.

@zcs - "Did Ed hit a bump in the road?" Yes, sort of like when the Titanic hit that bump in the road referred to as an iceberg. The end result will be exactly the same!

I don’t get this, whirlpool has just agreed to an agreement to begin shipping. I was just speaking with a buyer about it.

Did Ed hit a bump in the road? If he keeps and rebrands 400 stores how likely will all the unhappy vendors be willing to work with him on his terms

They are only trying to get the product back that shipped in the past 45 days. The claim is that Sears was insolvent when they placed the order, haven't paid for the product, so Whirlpool wants to go to the warehouse and get it all back. Over a dozen other vendors are trying the same thing.

Is Whirlpool still shipping Kenmore appliances to Sears? (Sears DDC workers, can you confirm/deny?)

What about availability? Are Kenmore appliances made by Whirlpool starting to come up as not available in the system, even the best sellers that are always available no matter what?

And how is Whirlpool going to get all their product back? I don't see Sears giving it all back voluntarily. More than half of the appliances on the sales floor are from Whirlpool!
