Cigna lay-off over 20 people in october 2019 , in the claim pre-pricing department! A new class was hired in Manila Philippines. And outsource to a third party in Knoxville Tn . They been announcing claims will disappear at Cigna .The are planing although not transparent at all more pay- off the beginning of 2020 .. the work environment at a cigna is been horrible and stressful they keep lying to their employees to assure we carry out as business as usual until they outsource everything. In the meantime we having corp meetings were Mr Cordani tells us , how stellar 2019 year has been and all the tools they have to help employees because they care . Also focusing on stress and loneliness... He don’t care i used to have respect for Mr Cordani.. but he is just like another greedy CEO living through life , keeping shareholder happy and not caring about the life’s of the people behind the scenes making Cigna Successful...
Why they can’t just stick to doing things better and streamlining processes instead of buying, selling, and losing money in broken deals. In the long run they would make more money and remain strong. Think too many execs are making bad decisions and laying off good employees in the meantime. Maybe some of these high paid non-producing leaders need to go.
Cigna is selling the Group Insurance Division which includes Disability Insurance, Life & Accidental Death, & Dismemberment Coverage. An investment bank has been hired to run an “auction” of the group disability division. Reports say division is worth 6 billion and will go towards 37 billion dollar debt.
So an acquisition was made with money assumed & not guaranteed. Carl Icahn was correct when he initially opposed the acquisition of Express Scripts. Cordani sabotaged the Anthem deal and made a $54 billion dollar purchase with a breakup fee he doesn’t deserve. I wonder how long this company will survive when a judge rules in Anthem’s favor for their counter suit and Cigna is required to pay $20 million.
I've been in this company for almost a year and was told that certain parts of the company would not be laid off. Today, ive been told that Cigna does not want anything to do with the midwest and are planning on shutting down our data center which means that people that support them will no longer have jobs (including myself) if I knew this, im sure we wouldn't have taken the jobs in the first place...
FROM 2015 LAYOFFS AND POSTED ON GLASSDOOR
"Let me go without severance from a fifteen year career"
Current Employee - Business Project Senior Specialist in Denver, CO

Neutral Outlook
Approves of CEO
I have been working at Cigna full-time for more than 10 years
Pros
I was compensated well and had flexibility to work from home
Cons
I got blindsided with a job elimination with no severance after fifteen years of severance. Too many layoffs and the review process is too rigid. They have to select people who are under performing even if there aren't any.
Advice to Management
This organization spends too much time in the vertical world. There is very little room for input from mid level and front line employees. Very much a top down organization. Lots of time wasted trying to control approvals
Yes, this is true. This is now the trend so that they can stay competitive with other like companies. Cheaper for Cigna to operate offshores then here obviously. This is what you call “Global Outreach”.
Has anyone heard any rumors about Cigna off shoring all service operations? starting in 4th quarter 2019 and all moves finalized by 2020. if true would severance packages be offered?
What about vendors? ( Accent)
Did they at least give those people severance who have been there 35 years
Which part of Cigna? Cigna is huge. Pharmacy? Specialty?
They started laying off employees last week my wife got the ax along with 50 others age 50 and older in the philadelphia office. 35 years of working for them and this is how they repay you.
Where in the midwest are they closing?
But still continue to hire instead of placing people they bring in new people and convert consultants

if you voluntarily ask a lay off will i get a package
I hope Cordani gets what’s coming to him. Greed and Karma will always bite you in the a**! Pay the Break-up fee Cordani. You know you sabatoged the deal.
Are these layoffs in claims department related to older employees. I saw a thread stating too old to be looking so I am assuming these layoffs are towards older employees? Is this true? Cigna is notorious for lay-off older employees- 50 years of age and up!
Visalia Cigna office announced they were laying off members of the claims department last week. I have no idea the actual number of employees this will affect.
Will this result in layoffs? "Effective January 2, 2019, Cigna's new HR outsourcing partner for the administration of health and welfare and other services, including the call center is changing to Alight Solutions."
Very unlikely.
