Heard the same hiring freeze rumor at a US site today.
Sounds like the "angry old fart" poster, "fresh out the box" poster, and "disdain for new grad" poster need a hug. This a a layoff post. Ya'll need to stop acting like this is FB or tweeter or snipchit. Grow up. If you got some info to share great. If not, quit wasting zeros an ones with your rants.

You must be a fresh out the box engineer with that new grad smell and plastic still covering your diploma. Welcome to the corporate jungle. Seagate is a great place to work and you should learn all you can from those old dudes. They continue to reinvent rotating media storage. Some of the stuff they crank out in a couple of days under program duress is phd level publication worthy. Pay attention you might gain some non textbook skills to carry you into your next job. Us old dudes can’t ask for extra credit or rely on the classroom curve. The ink is probably still wet on your diploma.
Yeah, the last group of senior citizens to take early retirement hasn't been gone for two weeks and they already have the hiring freeze back on with layoffs and pay freezes soon to follow.
"Industry Vets " get a years pay plus $50k just because they've been here forever when us with less than 5 years get 2 weeks plus a week of pay for every year.
Insane.
