Thread regarding IBM layoffs

IBM Employee Discussion Forum

Do you think we may need an IBM employee discussion forum? I am thinking about setting up one. If yes, a few questions:

  • How many of you would be interested in joining and participating

  • Do you think we’d have enough people visiting to make the forum interesting and meaningful

  • Do you think that we’d be legally challenged by IBM if we were to set up such forum

  • Would we be overwhelmed by spam and trolls that are frequent in online forums nowadays

  • Do you think that the IBM employee has an identity – I’ve been with IBM for about two years now and it feels that different groups do not have a shared sense of belonging, it’s almost like every group is on its own, each individual is on his own

  • Do you think that this new forum would be redundant as Watching IBM has already filled the void and people are chatting there (I know there are some random subredits as well but not much content there)

  • Any other suggestions on what may work

I'd appreciate any input...

Our dear leaders (in North America) threaten CBDers that they are on Fishbowl. I personally know of several VPs who are active on Fishbowl.

The bad press about IBM on that app is killing our reputation and making us a laughingstock.

Yet our dear leaders refuse to change.

The act of doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity.

Highly recommend that IBMers sign up for and download the BLIND app. Great place for q&a, discussion, polling, etc. to get ibm specific input and input from employees in the same industry at other companies.

IBM employee forum already exists at https://www.facebook.com/alliancemember/

Created by the former failed attempt at unionizing IBM in NA.

Hard to unionize when people are spread out all over the place.

Think you should check the legal issues first as well as cost/benefit. Don’t think anyone here can answer these questions for you. Not an expert, but my two cents, it’s a legal nightmare.

Besides, it seems redundant. We are already discussing things here anonymously, current and former employees both. Some of the input ex employees are giving here is gold.
