You’re absolutely right. But some have more marketable skills than others. Workers need to focus on building a career path not just taking a job.

But certain people in management treat their roles as kingdoms they administer. They wouldn’t do very well in the free market either.

RE Sweater | Post ID: @VQiVWks-1tms's post: "Assume positive intent. Even your leaders spread untruthful gossip about you and behave generally unethically."

In any environment, if your leders spread untruthful gossip and/or are unethical, you need to get out whether or not the firm is splitting in two, merging into one, or is unchanged. There is nothing positive in the intent if this be the case. That situation is untendable in the long run and considering how much time one spends at work, is just simply not worth it. It destroys your dignity and sense of self over time.

Interesting and accurate, all those training courses on mood elevators and being here now, not to mention agile* are cringeworthy and mean nothing because the culture simply isn’t changing. Don’t ever expect a promotion if you’ve ever been honest in a meeting.

If you want a promotion, sit quietly, nod, say yes to anything, agree with your boss, and blame any failures on external factors.

  • TR definition of agile - work gets done quicker, and without making any decisions.
