Severance?

My store closed down on sunday, October 14. I was told I wouldn't get severance (surprise, surprise) but the store manager thinks he will. Is that true he will receive it?

"not much luck" in job search

One important item in job hunting, all possibilities HAVE TO be explored even the most disruptive including the potential of RELOCATING

40 yrs ago was presented with the option of needing to move to NYC for the job and have never looked back - leaving a familar & smaller urban area had many many trepidations at the time but turned into best thing I ever did

Some potential employers would view that as the person not being averse to risk

Don't know if this is relevant? I was an assistant manager for 7 years and worked for the company for about 16 years all together. I worked in the automotive division. I was a loyal employee to a company who treated me terribly. The things I went through and still stuck it out. I don't know why I didn't leave I could have left years ago. They announced in May our store was closing. Our last day in the store before we had to vacate was 9/14 we had to sit on the floor and fill out many forms to insure we would get our severance checks and vacation pay out. I recieved my vacation pay out and 4 out of the 13 weeks of severance. They mailed me a letter stating that they were ordered to stop paying severance to any employee who started receiving severance before 10/15. I have been actively seeking work and have not had much luck and unemployment in my state is terrible I depended on the severance. I've been sitting in my living room for the last couple of weeks just posting to job after job. If your still in the company get out now they don't have you or your families best interest at heart they are dirty and plan to do alot more employees dirty.

No one is getting severance while the company is in bk. Don’t be stupid.

I hope not. Why should he get it if the rank & file doesn't?

Last few waves of Sears upper management are a toxic waste dump.

They couldn't block and feather the fixtures of the true merchandisers that ran the company back in the day.

No one is getting severance. Not even SGM. Also from a store that closed that day.

They only pay severance for FT employees with 1+ years worked. But with bankruptcy there could be none.

I don't actually know, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least. Sears management and up is like a corrupt brotherhood.
