What does "Focus on People" actually mean? I'm in my mid 20s, got hired in MN about 6 months ago. Seagate is definitely NOT like I thought it would be. Things I was expecting:
Seagate advertised that they were the "employer of choice", whateve that means.
Pay here is better than at medical device
*Technology projects like HAMR will push disc drives ahead of solid state by years

Seagate as a company are not worried about the coal face workers.The company management are only worried about how they look to the "outside".I cant wait until the next employee surveys come out.Management in Springtown Derry are in for a huge shock if they think they are going to get better results than the last time.Its so blatantly obvious that they are just trying to be a more kinder type of management for a few months until the survey is done.After that it will be back to the same bullying, conceited ,vindictive management.

forget about promotion.. what are the current value impose in the Seagater (Among Management or Colleague ) ? It seem like all man for himself.
Yeah, Seagate does not have good promotion schedules. Hardly anyone gets Senior Staff anymore and forget Principle.
Pretty much. I have a friend who is a project manager at Medtronic. Starting pay is the same or better, but the one key difference is that Seagate doesn't promote as fast if at all, and another is the bonus is much much smaller at Seagate. I've seen people languish at engineer I or II for over 5 years with good performance. One guy was a senior engineer for 8 years. Work environment is much nicer and more professional that Seagate IMO. Go to medical when you can. Seriously.
I suggest you read the post "The Motto is Real" from the 16th of Oct. It gives the real meaning of "Focus on People".
