If you don't work directly on products that have real customers lined up and a prospect of actually making money within 2-3 years, you are going to be non-essential when the the 2019 extinction level layoffs begin. 1/2 of R&D can be cut based on that standard alone. Prepare now. You better have an emergency savings account storing at least 9 months of take home pay our your just plan dumb.
As you probably know, Step one before laying off people is to put open job requisitions on hold. Check. Was just informed today that I can't fill an opening on my team now till Q3, maybe even Q4.
I'm predicting layoffs again in December.
They are planning a lay-off as demand from China slowing.
