Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Some vendors said to be halting shipments

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-10-19/some-sears-suppliers-are-said-to-keep-distance-after-bankruptcy

(Bloomberg) -- Shortly after filing for bankruptcy earlier this week, Sears Holdings Corp. sent a letter to suppliers asking for their “ongoing support.” That’s been a difficult pitch.

Some vendors have stopped shipping products to the retailer over concerns they won’t get paid, according to people with knowledge of the situation, who asked not to be named because the talks are private. Their willingness to continue working with the department-store chain during bankruptcy will play a crucial role in whether the company survives.

Who could blame the vendors. Are these the same vendors that Eddie blamed for SHC's financial problems a year ago. The same vendors that Eddie accused of playing hardball with SHC trying to get paid and renegotiate contracts so that the vendor would not be on the hook for so much money. The same vendors that have not been paid and have been lied to by SHC. The same vendors who have tried to stick with SHC, some for years (whirlpool), only to be treated with disrespect and disdain from SHC. Karma is a B**ch Eddie.

Call the credit card company about that refund. It took SHC months to issue refunds before BK can't imagine how long it would take now, after BK.

@VM4TVUB-1zns Thank you. I posted about the defective dryer. I called the store and they did say they have not been receiving GE appliances. I called and told delivery to come pick up the defective W/D and refund me. No waiting for a replacement product. They are scheduled to pick up tomorrow. I'm cutting all ties. I'll order from Home Depot, Lowes or other local appliance seller.

To customer with defective merchandise, contact manufacturer and see if they can intervene and deal with your problem directly. After that, talk to your credit card company. Most knew Sears was in deep trouble this year and did not take those point awards that would be handed out over a year seriously. The company probably knew it would never make good on those and many customers were skeptical as well. You can't spend points at a business shut down.

Anyone see trucks with larger items like those big toolboxes or exercise equipment or appliances? I have customers with ship to store orders waiting 10 days with nothing inbound and no word. Used to take less than a week.

I purchased a washer/dryer center before the bankruptcy even tho I was laid off in June. I had $100 in points to use and stood to benefit from a number of promotions. Looks like I am getting burned again by Sears. The dryer is defective and I've twice been scheduled to have the unit replaced with a new one of the same model. Today was the second time I was notified that my delivery would be delayed because it was not "delivered from the manufacturer" yet. My new delivery is in 2 weeks. I fully expected bankruptcy but never guessed it would have been so soon. I am so sorry to have overruled any instincts I had to avoid doing any other business with the company. Eddie is a POS and I will forever look to avoid doing business with any company he is involved in from this point on.

I have to imagine any sane vendor is insisting on CIA (Cash In Advance) terms these days.

Honestly you'd be pretty dumb to continue any kind of business with both Sears and Kmart at this point. I sure as hell wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pole now.
